Fitting Ice Skates

Written By: Riedell | June 17, 2009

A properly fitting ice skate makes skating even more delightful. Never buy skates that are too big with the hopes that a thick sock can make them fit better. New ice skates should feel snug in the heel, arch and ball to provide the best support. You should be able to wiggle your toes freely but not slide side-to-side. While seated, slide the skate on and lightly kick the heel down into the back of the figure skate boot. Now you’re ready to lace up (see Lacing Skates). Remember, when you stand, the skates will feel tighter than when you are seated. For more information, see Fitting Guidelines at riedellskates.com.
