Staying Sharp (Ice skate blades, that is)

Written By: Riedell | July 8, 2009

Taking care of your ice skate blades is very important for your skates to perform as well as possible and it’s critical to keep edges in top condition. Wear blade guards as soon as you leave the ice or rubberized surface to avoid scraping or chipping the top layer of chrome—which leaves the steel underneath vulnerable to corrosion from moisture. When you remove your ice skates, take off blade guards, wipe blades dry and then use blade blankets to protect blades as they return to room temperature. And remember to sharpen blades regularly for best results.
